PGR 4 Achievement Tips

I have gotten quite a few people stumbling across my blog looking for some achievement tips for PGR4.  Honestly, this is a bit comical because I am relatively horrible at racing games but I figured why not post some of the ones that I have unlocked (and some of them are those you people are searching for)

 ”You Won’t Believe Your Eyes!”

To obtain this achievement you simply have to buy the 3D filter (its in the shop with all the things you can buy with your kudos and if i recall runs about 30,000 kudos.  Simply take a photo, and apply the filter (which I believe you access filters and manipulations by hitting the “X” button after the image has been snapped).  I did this first on a motorcycle, and it didn’t work - which is a bit strange if you ask me, but it seems to require a car to unlock the achievement.

“Bibendum”

Even more simple then the above achievement.  You just have to unlock the test track mode by getting to “professional” rank in the story mode.  From there simply play all 3 test tracks, complete the race, and get the achievement

there are a number of others that I have unlocked, but they are for the most part self explainitory, below are some that people have connected to my blog looking for, but I also have not unlocked them yet.

“Hero” - Become a National Champion in Single Player Career mode.

By the description I would guess this will unlock as you further your career path in PGR4

Rubbin’ is Racin’ - Knock off the wing mirrors on all of your opponents’ vehicles in a Single Player Street Race event.

again the description is self explanitory yet it has to be rather difficult to wack the mirrors off EVERYONE you are racing against - I would assume a fast car, with excellent handling would be a must.

good luck achievement hunters, and feel free to leave tips in comments, I need them as much as you do!

Xbox Arcade Prices are going up…..ALOT

Ok I just found this pretty funny the first time I loaded the Xbox.com page for Battlestar Galatica (the arcade game coming out this wednesday).  Before you ask, not it doesn’t really cost $800, but a mere 800 Microsoft points, I apparently just loaded the page at the right time to catch this interesting shot :-)

Uno Gets a Band Aid, Extras for arcade wednesday

Well not really a band aid - but starting today at 5PM EST there will be a title update for UNO on the xbox live arcade.  This update will enable ‘big button’ support for those of you that get the Scene it! game.  Allows you to find other members that have the camera enabled, if that is your thing, and finally allows you to access your privacy settings in a much easier fashion.  Nothing really major, but the game has been going strong for quite some time without many bugs - what isnt broke…..

Also releasing this Arcade wednesday is pack #3 for bomberman, and new DLC for Pinball FX - not much info on these two yet though.

 Full press release to follow.

Well I might have gotten the early scoop on Battlestar for this arcade wednesday but Microsoft was able to sneak in another live arcade title this weekend.  How is a guy able to keep up with his arcade addiction at this rate?  Looks like an interesting puzzler.  I wonder how long over 220 levels will take to complete?

Get Ready to Saw Your Foes in Half….Again

That’s right boys and girls Gears of War PC has been officially announced as gold, and on schedule for the November 6th release date.  It isn’t going the route of shadowrun and having cross platform play, but its got me really interested.  The game is a LIVE game, so a new group of achievements are ready for you to unlock - but more importantly the PC release will contain ”all of the content from its Xbox 360 counterpart and all previously released downloadable content (seven multiplayer maps and the Annex game mode)” but also five new campaign chapters, exclusive multiplayer maps, a king of the hill gametype, and you will be able to create your own maps.  All for MSRP of $49.99 (the xbox360 game still goes for $54.95 used without any of the DLC!)

Guaranteed to make console gamers envious.

Mass Effect Hires Famous Dudes

Just got a press release stating that Mass Effect will have voice acting from some notable hollywood and sci-fi stars.  Specifically one of my favorites Seth Green who will play the voice of “Joker”.  It isn’t mentioned in the press release, but a friend of mine also pointed out that Keith David also is the voice of the Arbiter.  The full press release and outtake video to follow:

E3….i mean 4

So my original assumption that this was like a geometry wars was a bit off.  Sure there are trippy shapes, and equally trippy colors but you dont go around gunning them down, instead you self implode and try to take out as many of the little critters as you can.  Imagine Burnout the burnout crash challenges with simple, yet very colorful colors, and the ability to crash over, and over again - as long as you pick up the proper time extending pieces from the wreckage.  After playing the demo, they hooked me in though and I gladly ponied up the microsoft points, but as most of you know I tend to buy live arcade games a bit obsessively anyway.  Instead of playing any of my originally planned games for the night I played E4…and alot of E4.  I’ll probably try out a few more game modes, and versus mode and follow it up with a review sometime in the next few days, depending on my schedule, and if I am in the writing mood.

New ‘Supported Service’: 360Voice API to RSS Format

So recently I was contacted by dotKenneth, in relation to my work with the 360voice API.  He was looking for a way to convert the current Voice APIs to a Standard RSS format so that he could use it in his lifestream.

Just in case someone else has a need for this same process, or would like me to expand the tool to cover all the voice APIs (currently it only converts the get-score API) I have decided to list this as one of my supported services.

Check it out here
