Well another week has come and gone, so its time for another update in the world of Dave, or Squidpunch if you prefer. I played a few new games, and some old favorites. Decided to finally drop my fear of CSS and dive in, and picked up another cold from my kids - that’s it in a nutshell, but you want the details you say? In that case read on.
The Gamer
- Just yesterday I noticed some funky issues with my chatpad and the wireless headset. Previously I thought this was just the way it worked (since I had the same problem with the DDR Pad - but a friend of mine said his works fine with the chatpad. So I might have to bug support to swap it out for me or something.
- I have been playing Gears of War PC off and on, and been pretty stuck at the end of Act III, I recall it giving me trouble on the XBox version as well, so I am not very suprised - but still annoyed. I am pretty sure that I played the final checkpoint for about 2 hours, and always ended up down to one kill before finishing the act, and always dying, I will get it one of these days - I want to see the new content, unfortunately you have to muddle through the original campaign to get there it seems.
- Made some progress in Kingdom Under Fire this week - Loki was quite a formible foe, but I finally became victorious.
- Played some multiplayer COD4 and Halo 3 - if I had a comment for everyone that killed me my blog would be pretty popular
- Got At World’s End and The Golden Compass from Gamefly to assist my in my gamerscore challenge. So far that didn’t really help out anyway. I have decided to battle for 4th place, since thats where I have spent most of my time in the challenge - and to take out PAT2K9 would be a serious feat with the lead he has on everyone.
- Finally got around to pulling yout Project Sylpheed, after the awesome deal I got on it - I finished a mission or two, and racked up a single achievement.
- I almost completely forgot about the Game With Developers in KUF event. A part of me really wishes I had though. I messaged one of the gamertags on the list to join what I thought was gaming. It was really just a question and answer session - we didnt even leave the tutorial area. Not sure if the other gamertags were actually gaming or just chatting - it was nice to get some insight on the game from the developers, tell them what we liked, what we didn’t like, etc - I just wish we were out slashing baddies at the same time - there is experience to be had!
The Coder
- Everyone seems to be digging the Challenge Scout, at least I think they are - based on my stats it has been pretty active, but I still wonder how accurate the results are, would be pretty impressive if the formual for creating odds of winning a challenge worked on my first attempt, but anything is possible i guess.
- Some small background coding for TheLiveEye.com - mostly just “what if we did this, would it work better or differently” type things, nothing interseting to report yet.
- I got my hands dirty with the beast I call CSS - being an ‘old’ web developer I have always stuck to my old ways and not embraced these new fancy things like style sheets etc. I kind of got out of the web development game a while back and do mostly windows applications these days, so I just never took the time to really get it. I decided it was time to get up with the times and at least understand it a bit better - from there (and a template I started from) you have the new look of the blog - what do you think?
The Person
- I am sick again - I must have missed the part of the parents manual which lets you know that they get sick alot….and then they are that sickness with you …. alot
- We had family photos done this weekend. Oliver’s 3 year old photos (a bit early), and Summer’s 1 year old photos (a bit late) ,
I plan on having them up onthe family blogtonight. Update: Check them out here if you wish

I like the Challenge Scout, but then it listed me as second so I have hope it I can win. I am currently in a close third so it seems accurate at least for me. I’ve not compared it to everyone yet.
