Hey Squid you skipped a week again! Yeah I am aware, but this week of all weeks I have a pretty valid excuse, perhaps a few. I joined a new site officially, a site is moving, and unfortunately a site is dying. This should be an interesting update.
The Gamer
- Once again my headset isn’t working with the chatpad - so I just got lucky, it only worked one time. Based on the number of searches from google coming to my blog looking for the exact same problem, clearly I am not alone. I gave up on getting it fixed or replaced though, it is just not worth the effort.
- I got Tiger Woods 2006 from gamefly, put it in my drive and sent it back, the entire reason for getting the game is to get the launch king badge at 360voice, which I have been working on off and on for a while now
- I also got a copy of Burnout Paradise, which I haven’t played enough of yet, but its pretty sweet - I noticed they have stats online too - wish they provided an open API for it - come on EA, there are community sites and members that could benefit so much!
- If you want to have some extreme fun in Kingdom Under Fire - just message Pat2k9 - we played a few times and its insane the equipment he has laying around
The Coder
- The biggest, and saddest news is TheLiveEye.com will be shut down. ZaaM quit due to various reasons, and I can’t due it on my own. It is much more than that, but that is what started the decision process. Feel free to read more about this, and the pretty much impossible limitations that the application faces here. To sum it up, the fastest server, and the most streamlined code will still be limited based on sharing of data access to the xbox live data, and the limitations that are placed on that access. It is just too hard to keep real time updates on all the members (and continue to allow more to join) with the way the data has to be gathered, something like this would have to be provided from xbox, with direct access to the data to survive - it is very likely they keep these kind of stats on us anyway.
- Joined with that comes the fact that since ZaaM is leaving - 360friendspot is all my responsibility, the loyal members of the site held somewhat of an intervention begging for the site to remain, so it will remain, but its being moved to a hosting plan of mine - actually on the same account as this blog. I am considering making this as much of a real community site as possible (especially since we are loosing the more popular section of site) so if you want to do game reviews, or blog about current news and events - email me and let me know (squidpunch@gmail.com). There are also talks of a podcast, though with schedules, and everyone’s lack of knowledge, thats still up in the air.
- The Secret Project was discussions and finalizing joining the 360voice team, most everyone probably all ready knows this since it was officially announced a bit ago
- Speaking of podcasting and 360voice - part of my duties over there is being part of the team podcast - we are stilling getting our feet wet with the whole thing, but check it out, episode 2 (and my first appearance) was just posted recently.
The Person
- Not a lot non coding or gaming going on, which I guess is good because in addition to the extra work I signed up for joining 360voice, the unexpected work of being the sole developer on my previous projects was unexpected.
- I am sure there is more, but this will have to do so I can get back to work

That is too bad about LiveEye because I really liked seeing how many hours I spent with a game. Still, probably better that my wife never found the site.
