About the game:
Eets is a puzzle game with a dash of humor. You are a little guy that loves to eat pretty much anything in his way. You have to manage through over 100 puzzles in which you get Eets from point A to point B using vairous tools provided by you, and tools all ready laid out on the screen. Each tool interacts with Eets in a different way, and you must place these items in the proper way to get Eets to a puzzle piece. Fans of the game Lemmings should find this fairly similar - you cannot control Eets once the round has started, simply replace your tools and retry if they were not positioned in the correct way.
Single Player: 7/10
There are a TON of puzzles to complete, and as you go further you get new tools to use and the levels take quite a bit more thought as to where to place the tools available to you for the level. My only gripe is even though the current level is completely unique - it is essentially the same type of thing 120 times over. Place various things on the screen, hit right trigger to start Eets and use the buttons to activate the tools you placed on the screen. Even with this repitiousness, I find myself drawn to the game though - and wanting more, I have so many levels yet to complete…If you get completely stuck (or just dont feel like figuring out the puzzles yourself, you can get a hint, or even the full solution to the puzzle - this is simply one of the solutions, there is more then one way to finish the puzzle.
Multiplayer: 4/10
The multiplayer mode is called Marsho Madness, but unfortunately only supports local multiplayer - which is acutally pretty uncommon in games these days. I personally like being able to play with friends over live. The point is to zap the enemies as they sward towards your home base. As time goes on the enemies are more difficult and come in greater numbers. The game is hurting in this category simply for the lack of xbox live support - in todays world its almost required that we can play with friends outside of our own home.
Graphics/game play: 7/10
The graphics are very cartoon like, similar to graphics in Cloning Clyde for example. In my opinion the graphics fit the theme of the game perfectly. They don’t rival graphics of a full retail game such as Gears of War, but for an xbox live arcade game they work well, kudos to the artists behind the screen and characters. The game controls are pretty well laid out, and the number of different items that you can use to make Eets interact differently is great.
Achievements: 6/10
The achievements are split up nicely you can get 75 points for simply finishing all the puzzles, a few achievements based on the multiplayer modes, and then achievements for completing missions with leftover tools in your toolbox etc. Most all achievements are based on actually achieving something - which as some of you know, achievements that require little to no effort are a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
Value: 5/10
Personally I think a full game for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) is a great deal. I think the number to complete all the puzzles (and achievements, if you are that type of gamer) will provide hours of entertainment. My only concern when rating the value of the game is, I don’t see it having much replay value. Even the multiplayer mode, is local multiplayer only.
In Short..
If you are into games like Lemmings (assuming you know what this game is) then this game is definately for you. Figuring out the puzzles is what I consider a perfect live arcade game, something you can pick up play a few rounds of and then come back at a later time. For a parent with 2 young kids this is how alot of my gaming goes - so its a perfect match. The game comes with over 120 puzzles to complete, which should definately give you $10 worth of enjoyment if you like this type of game.
I give it a 6 out of 10 |
