SaySwap Update: Version 2

I think I mentioned this before, but in any event I somehow obtained 30 points and another token on sayswap. I thought nothing of it, thinking that perhaps it was a bug in the system, or something like that - but randomly got a message I was getting another game for 20 of my points. I have recently recieved World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions in the mail, no case or instructions but the game seems to be in working order. I played it for a short period of time last night.

On a side note you can use the live camera to take a front and side shot of yourself and your in game character is actually you. I did it last night, and I have to say its kind of creepy to see myself sitting inside a video game.

Sayswap Update

Just a quick update, I did in fact just recieve my game (Import Tuner Challenge) from Sayswap.com today. It looks like the member that sent me the game had to pay some extra shipping (they include a printed label from endicia.com, but there was a us postal sticker for more postage too). I have to say its pretty amazing to get a game for only about $5 thanks to the free points. Now next time if I give the service another try in the future I will have to ship in a game (or spend $30 on points - which is just like going to the used store downtown). Just wanted to blog that it does in fact work - at least with the member that agreed to ship my game =)

Trial run of SaySwap.com

So a number of days ago a member over at 3fs asked if anyone had used this game trading website ‘SaySwap’. This was the first I have heard of it, as well as other members of our forums but strangely enough I orignally wanted to build a service like this, but a bit different.

I figured I would give the site a try, you don’t have to pay anything to create an account, so why not. The site rules are a bit complicated if you ask me but it works something like this:

  • You select games that you want, they have a point value and you must have this many points to request this game from another user - additionally you need a trade token which will run you about $5.
  • Trade tokens can only be purchased from the site, there is no other way to recieve them, except if you get a token from a referral - so if anyone wants to sign up let me invite you for some free tokens =)
  • the points that you need to trade a game can be obtained by either bying them $1 for 1 point, or by sending a game to another member that wants that game. They also give you 30 points for simply creating your account.
  • Games are valued at 30, 20, and 10 points, this is loosely based on the current MSRP of that game, so considering they give you 30 points to start you should be able to recieve a game trade from a willing member for only the ~$5.00 fee.
  • Apparently the site pays for the shipping for all members of the United States - which is a definate plus.
